The softwater preparation plant automation for the Ford Otosan factory in Gölcük was realized using Siemens S7-300 PLC and WinCC Scada software. The levels of each of the 2500 ton tanks (four tanks in total) was measured and transferred to the PLC and Scada computers using E+H level sensors that can communicate using Profibus-DP. The same sensors were used to transfer the pressure difference in the filtering tanks and saltwater tank levels.
The process flow information from the Scada computers along with the necessary manual operations were realized in parallel. Communication among the control system and remote stations was achieved with a Profibus connection using Siemens ET-200M modules for monitoring and control purposes. Control and management of softwater pump, fire pump and remote water wells can be achieved using the ET-200M panels from the main PLC.
