APPLICATIONS:

CHARACTERISTICS:

    WEG soft starters are microprocessed, fully digital, designed to accelerate/decelerate and protect three phase squirrel cage electric motors. By adjusting the firing angle of tiristors, voltage applied to the motor can be controlled. With correct parameter adjustment, torque and current are adjusted to load requirements, that is, the current required will be the minimum required to accelerate the load, without frequency changes. These switches may be supplied as spare or mounted on panels, ready for use.
    Some characteristics and advantages of soft starters include: starting voltage adjustment for a pre set period of time, voltage pulse at the starting for high inertia loads, fast voltage reduction to na adjustable level (hydraulic shock reduction in pumping systems), phase run away protection, overcurrent and undercurrent etc.
